They created [[7_Ideas_For_New_Online_Casinos_Success|all sorts of excellent posts]], although most of these were [[Online Converter|deleted]]. The wiki was once again [[Battle of the Box|attacked by spambots]] in October 2023, and hundreds of articles were created every day until late December, with the entire wiki being archived, purged, and reuploaded around the New Year of 2024.

Due to a lack of effective CAPTCHA technology, open account creation is turned off on our wiki. If you'd like to contribute, just ask [[Flameoguy]] or another admin to create an account for you.

Grand Strategy game set in the year 2000 with the only online servers being dedicated to roleplaying. The UI is fairly impenetrable and the game is locked at a certain window size, but the easiest thing to do in the game is launch nukes at people. The one upside to Superpower 2 is the cool globe map.

== Paradox Games ==

Most of the games we play are grand strategy games developed by Paradox Interactive. They allow the player to control and develop a nation through history, building an empire and conquering their enemies. These games take hours to play, have buggy and laggy multiplayer, and cost a fortune in DLC to make playable. Naturally we play them all the time.

===Crusader Kings===

''CK2'' and ''CK3'' are set in the medieval era. They focus more on interpersonal politics and dynastic lineage than the state. You can play as a minor noble and scheme your way up to being the emperor, or likely die of syphilis after being imprisoned by your wife/sister. There is the free older version that came out in 2012 and the new game that is actually from this decade, although few people on RE have CK3.

''Eu4'' takes place during the early modern period, starting in the Renaissance and lasting until the Napoleonic wars. Most of the gameplay involves map painting by employing the main two resources, gold and manpower, in wars of conquest. There is a stupid 'mana system' and a bunch of bells and whistles you can get with DLC but most people just go for world conquest. Victoria 2 is old as fuck and requires hamachi to play multiplayer. Its warfare system is similar to Eu4 and the diplomacy system is confusing. Victoria 3 just came out and is naturally full to the brim with bugs. It's basically a city builder game with a war system that plays like a mobile app. The diplomatic plays system is kind of cool and it will consume all of your free time.

''Hoi4'' is a World War 2 game. Since it features modern nations and ideologies, the community is rife with people who use it as a proxy for their [[politics]]. Hoi4 has the most workable multiplayer out of all these games and so we play it a lot, at one point every week but now every so often.

Much of the game involves managing production, fronts, and technology. The player can control every aspect of their units, and therefore not only their effectiveness in combat but the stress on their logistic system This can be somewhat stressful, especially if you have to [[RTS|micro]] individual units. Gameplay improves with alcohol: Hoi4 Night is a good time to get tipsy and a great time to get drunk. Every game that we play ends up taking two hours of starting a lobby and rehosting to actually begin. Since its inception, Reconstruction Era has acquired people from many different corners of the internet, and over the ages has taken many different forms as the community evolved. [[DarkRP]] a roleplay gamemode that is notorious for being filled with microtransactions, boring gameplay, and admin abuse. People will build megabases and mass-kill other players with permanent [[weapons]] that they donated for. Far from the genuinely enjoyable roleplaying and joking around that it once was, the gamemode is mostly played by powertripping children. In an attempt to create a more classic and fun environment, the [[DarkRP|RE DarkRP server]] was created. This gamemode is one of the most popular on Garry's Mod and has spawned the more serious Nutscript servers.

== 1942RP ==

1942RP is a roleplay gamemode for Gmod set in Nazi Germany. Originating with nonserious and juvenile servers such as POG (People of Gaming), the gamemode gradually evolved into a much more self-serious and persistent experience, with persistent characters and a heavy use of [[Discord]] to organize factions and events. However, it was during this earlier shitposty period when some of the [[old souls|community's first members]] met [[Primordial Reconstruction Era|as kids]].

From 2019 to 2020, the members of [[Reconstruction Era]] regularly played on [[Typhon Networks]], a more serious roleplay server. They typically played as low-level characters with high connections. RE engaged in various high jinks such as running a bar as the RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst), getting banned for shooting Hitler, and saving Reichschancellor [[Sheep6600]] from Nazi Party usurpers. At one point, Flameoguy ran over his own admiral with a navy-issued vehicle that he illegally equipped with rocket boosters. 1234Fireball took various roles; He was a Reichskommissar, party chancellor, head of the RAD, head of the DSR ([[socialism|Communist]] resistance), and finally a Lieutenant in the navy. Eventually however, the community would get bored with the slow pace of intrigue on the Typhon community and became inactive.

[[Reconstruction Era]] members would return to [[Typhon]] for the summer of 2021. Looking to 'play cop', most RE members would end up joining the Feldgendarmerie, a kind of military police. They ended up being enveloped in a world of petty squabbles and intrigue, which resulted in Fireball becoming chief of the Feld. Eventually Fireball would become the Generalfeldmarschall, a player-elected leader of the military faction on the server. Although he created a cabinet and attempted to revitalize the military, he was removed after a eight-day term. The staff killed him using out of game events, and an inactive Generalfeldmarschall took his place. Flameo, Sheep6600, and Bergmann all played prominent roles in the military, with Flameo taking over the Feld. and attempting to rebuild it.

While this was occurring, Fireball would reach out to [[MinnesotaNice]] about acquiring [[Typhon]]. The deal fell through at the last minute as the investment team realized that Typhon would make a bad asset. A side consequence of this was developing RePOG, a [[DarkRP]] server designed to resemble the old POG server. Despite only getting 24 players max, it would still outlast Typhon.

=== WeimarRP ===

Think of this like 1942RP's braindead little brother, where it cannot function for more than a month without falling apart! Reconstruction Era by proxy ran one of these servers in the form of "Helios Networks" which realistically was just a scheme to milk money from children who wanted to be an oberpoopenfarten in their communities. It fell apart because the larpers on staff couldn't handle the basic workload of "Maybe don't let people break very basic rules :)" and it cost RE the net sum of 50 dollars and 1 month.

=== SovietRP ===

A lot like 1942RP, but replace the wheraboos and neo-nazis with [[socialism|communists and tankies]]. This server was hosted by POG, but was quickly and brutally murdered by the server owners. This server to place in somewhere in the late 60s early 70s, the four main sides were the Soviets, Criminals, Civillians, and NATO. This server of coarse had its fair share of [[cringe]], for example NATO recreating the classic washing machine wall from ''The Sandlot 2'' on the Soviet border, or the time NATO decided to push the border all the way to the steps of the Kremlin. The server would quickly die off though, murdered by the server owners who were constantly changing to worse and worse maps.

So you want to know a little bit about this wiki? Well, there's not much to say, it was created to provide a kind of archive for [[Reconstruction Era|our community]] and its history. The idea was conceived and implemented by [[Freddo]] in April 2021. Most early pages were created from November 2021 to June 2022. [[Fireball]] played a major role chronicling server history while [[Flameoguy]] created a large volume of general articles. By 2023 the site provided a solid overview of Reconstruction Era and everything that our community gets up to.

During the July of 2023, this wiki was attacked by [[Battle of the Box|SEO spambots]]. They created [[7_Ideas_For_New_Online_Casinos_Success|all sorts of excellent posts]], although most of these were [[Online Converter|deleted]]. The wiki was once again [[Battle of the Box|attacked by spambots]] in October 2023, and hundreds of articles were created every day until late December, with the entire wiki being archived, purged, and reuploaded around the New Year of 2024.

So you want to know a little bit about this wiki? Well, there's not much to say, it was created to provide a kind of archive for [[Reconstruction Era|our community]] and its history. The idea was conceived and implemented by [[Freddo]] in April 2021. Most early pages were created from November 2021 to June 2022. [[Fireball]] played a major role chronicling server history while [[Flameoguy]] created a large volume of general articles. By 2023 the site provided a solid overview of Reconstruction Era and everything that our community gets up to.

During the July of 2023, this wiki was attacked by [[Battle of the Box|SEO spambots]]. They created [[7_Ideas_For_New_Online_Casinos_Success|all sorts of excellent posts]], although most of these were [[Online Converter|deleted]]. The wiki was once again [[Battle of the Box|attacked by spambots]] in October 2023, and hundreds of articles were created every day until late December, with the entire wiki being archived, purged, and reuploaded around the New Year of 2024.

Due to a lack of effective CAPTCHA technology, open account creation is turned off on our wiki. If you'd like to contribute, just ask [[Flameoguy]] or another admin to create an account for you.

Victims would suffer severe anxiety over micromanaging representative 'resources' and 'units' in order to defeat their opponent, often another person being punished. While the loser was usually burned at the stake, it was noted that even the person who won would succumb to madness, ranting and raving about "the meta" and "cheesing".

Over time, RTS games would lose popularity as the centralizing states in Europe attempted to reform and govern more humanely. Alongside slavery, the death penalty, and animal trials, RTS games would be considered ancient and irrational. The wooden pieces used to play them were displayed in museums alongside more-or-less factual exhibits such as guillotines and the iron maiden.

However, the dawn of the Computer Age brought a new interest in RTS games. The term, associated with feudal intrigue, was used to market the game Dune II as a cruel and ruthless battle over the fictional world of Arrakis. Today, there are [[gaming|countless computer games]] that follow the real-time strategy model, some of which the [[Reconstruction Era|Members of RE]] ruthlessly subject other members of the community to, echoing the tyranny of ancient kings. No less cruel than the ancient method of torture, the [[staff]] have nevertheless decided to forgo burning at the stake as the punishment for people who lose. Instead, whoever loses a game is ruthlessly mocked in a [[Early RE|Stronghold]] peasant accent. Along with [[map games]], RTS games form one of the main activities on RE.

Stronghold is a series of medieval RTS games, starting with the first game's release in 2001. The most recent game in the series is Stronghold Crusader II, released in 2014. The most popular title in the series on RE is Stronghold 2, a fully 3D game from 2005. Despite the unbreakable balance of power that usually develops, its still enjoyed as a way to build a castle and try to lay siege other players. == Planetary Annihilation ==

Planteray Annihilation is the spiritual successor to the Total Annihilation series of RTSes, it's about economic management and mass production of units, but also includes special units where one can launch moons into planets and build death stars.

An Expansion to Planetary Annihilation where it included titans. Titans are a special unit where one could build large units that are able to do large attacks.
== R.U.S.E. ==

R.U.S.E. was a 2010 casual RTS game set during World War two. RE typically played the Total War gamemode, in which technology improved over time. Since they usually played without a timelimit, R.U.S.E. games would usually drag on for way too long. Whenever someone suggested we play R.U.S.E, there was usually a collective 'no' or maybe a 'fuck you'.

Due to R.U.S.E being discontinued, the only way to obtain the game is to buy an old key off the internet and put it into Steam. The R.U.S.E. servers are now permanently down, making multiplayer impossible.

== Company of Heroes ==

Company of Heroes 2 is a tactical World War II RTS game released in 2013. Tanks are really expensive but penal battalions are dirt cheap. During late 2021 the community got really burnt out on this game after playing it almost daily. I'd still be up to play it once in a while.

This game notably whitewashes the German Nazis while portraying the Soviet Union in an extreme negative light, similar in a way to Enemy at the Gates. For that reason it's banned in Russia.

== Wargame ==

Wargame: Red Dragon is a 2014 RTS set during the cold war. As the name implies, its a wargame. The gameplay is some of those most realistic (Read: Hellish) of any strategy game played on RE. A solid grasp of combined arms doctrine is needed to make any progress against your enemies. Reconstruction Era will often get together for 3v3 Conquest matches, with a few experienced players and a few new players on each team.

This often means there is a delay in repairs on the box or servers, like when this wiki went down; instead of being able to address the issue himself has to message Freddo, hope Freddo manages the issue, tell Flameo that he's messaged Freddo. This is similar to how Fireball manages drama which is playing a giant game of telephone.

These groups are often ineffective in their own unique ways, so Fireball enjoys just lingering around these organizations, collecting data, and moving on, often taking one or two individuals with him to his own little side projects. This means that it reinforces the somewhat sporadic beliefs of politics that pragmatism is the only real option in politics and that policy is all that matters over ideology. Purity is only a concept invented by [[Cringe|anarchists]] and LARPers who derive validation from how right and good they are for following the tried and true political ideology. These people are cowards, to the highest degree, replacing the religion they deride with just pure ideology. In the past, fireball has attempted [[renescantism|political LARPs of his own]].
